The Royal Hotel in Hull is victorian and maintains much of its elegance , could not fault any of our stay in a fantastic position next to rail station , we took the train to Bridlington had a lovely day there taking a boat aorund the bay for

Never been to Hull before and it was a pleasant suprise, will be going again. All staff at the hotel were friendly and attentive except one in dining room on our last night, I did`nt get her name but she is definitley in the wrong job.

The staff were very professional, helpful and above all friendly. The standard of food was excellent. A very enjoyable stay.

The only reason it is unlikely that I would stay at the hotel again would not because we were unhappy with the hotel it was lovely, more that we would be unlikley to visit Hull again. The museums are excellent nearly all are free but we have seen the city/town and cannot see a reason to return there.

Unfortunately, our room did not get cleaned, the beds hand't been made, the shower/shampoon cream was not replaced, no toilet roll replacement. The domestic staff had not entered our room at all. We did not complain about the room not being cleaned because we were there only 2 nights and it was on our second day, having returned from a day out, that we realised the rooms had not been entered. We also had a member of the cleaning staff (identified by their uniform) knock on our door at 7.30am shouting for 'Henry'. They did apologise when we opened the door and they realised it wasn't Henry who was in there. This did not spoil our stay, the other hotel staff were very obliging, helpful and friendly.

The ambience of the hotel was extremely welcoming, the staff polite and helpful, the free parking very convenient and plentiful. The restaurant food was was varied, fresh and delicious.

The Hotel was lovely, right in the City Centre yet very quiet and relaxing. Staff were excellent and very friendly.

Overall good value for money. BUT: The restaurant was average but could easily have been very good if a number of minor issues were addressed. These 'issues' may save the hotel pennies in the short term, but will cost them return guests.

The room would have got a good had it been a bit bigger, there wasnt enough room to get in or out of bed !

the hotel has been renovated recently and is much more comfortable than it was. It is in an excellent situation in the centre of Hull near the railway station

Hotel is ideally located for road or rail and walking distance to shops, attractions etc.

We had a very enjoyable time and the hotel and its facilities we thought were excellent. It was excellently placed for the shops and the train. We found the staff very helpful and attentive, we would definitely stay there again.

the all inclusive option meant we had to sign for every drink we had. this was a bit embarrassing. there must be better ways for managing stock.

My wife is a coeliac and the hotel was notified with the original booking. At the hotel staff were helpful within the materials that they had but no effort was made to provide gluten free bread for example. We had to go out and buy our own. Other than this we had no complaint. staff were friendly and helpful, the location of the hotel was convenient, the quality and cleanliness was first rate and the value for money superb.

We enjoyed the two day break. The staff were very helpful and friendly. The food was excellent and the bar service was quick and efficient. Good value for money.

We have stayed at this hotel before on the same deal so we did have an idea what to expect, I was a little disappointed with the room as it was extremely small, we definately did not get the free upgrade this time but it was adequate. For all inclusive guests the restaurant just gives you a typed A4 sheet with the set menu on, and I must admit we did feel a little like second class citizens! would it hurt to put it in a folder?(other hotels in this chain do this) Breakfast on the first morning was good but on the second it was a lot busier and there was an obvious shortage of staff.

THE ONLY FAULT WE HAD WAS THE ROOMS WERE A BIT SMALL. THE STAFF AT THE HOTEL WERE HELPFULL AND FRIENDLY. THEY WERE ALL VERY NICE.THE DEAL WAS QUITE OUTSTANDING , THE FOOD WAS EXCELLANT I DOUBT YOU COULD DO THAT AGAIN.

The hotel is very convenient for the museums, shops and marina all of which we enjoyed. The room was clean, warm and the bed comfortable. All the staff were very friendly and helpful. The only negative comments we have is regarding the furniture in the room which was in need of an update - broken drawer and very tired woodwork. The net curtain on the 3rd floor landing window was in tatters and very dirty.

The staff were excellent the food was adequate but nice enough the only downside was the wine of an evening was given in very small glasses which meant several visits to the bar. It would have been better if the glasses were larger or they let a couple share a bottle. It is all inclusive afterall and this would have taken some pressure off the bar staff

I can understand high prices at the bar for keeping others out but these affect all!!!No problems with hotelshop.Please send we further offers.

only thing that we had a problem with was the very hard vegatables, but thats us we dont like them raw on booking into the hotel the service was excellant. we went to our upgraded room to find a bath towel inthe bath because of a faulty shower, we reported this and staright away was given a better room, no problem to small to sort out many thanks to the staff at the royal mecure hotel hull

I thought the service from the staff was 5*. I've e-mailed the hotel manager to tell him this. The Hotel felt more like a 4*. It was very clean, food was good. Location was great. The Hotel building was lovely. All amenities were close by. Free car parking, so car not used till we checked out to come home. Very pleased with our all inclusive break.

excelleng hotel, excellent food, excellent value

Both my wife and I and our friends were very pleasantly surprised at the value of this all inclusive break. The hotel was well appointed and tastefully decorated and the level of service by the hotel staff is a credit to the Mercure group. The food was way above expectation. Far from being basic, there was a very wide choice on the menu and the standard of preparation and presentation was truly wonderful. As most of us were drinking wine, it would have been nice to have had a carafe on the table (as part of the all inc deal) rather than having to bother the waiting on staff quite regularly for a top up, although there was never any problem with this. My only other minor criticism would be that I would have prefered a wrist band rather than a cardboard room card to show that we were all inclusive. The card soon got a bit dog eared and initially mine was not stamped correctly (no blue spot!) which lead to a bit of embarrassment at the bar, soon sorted I might add. All in all, we are all looking forward to visiting the hotel again and will certainly recommend it to our friends.

Air conditioning not working, exec room similar to a normal room however good value break

The hotel staff could not do enough for us, they were great. The hotel does not look great from the outside but once through the door, the decor improves. Room was very clean with nice bedding The second night we only had one large towel between us, a call to reception brought a young man with an arm full of fresh towels in a couple of minutes The food was first class. The city centre location is perfect for a shopping week-end. A short walk to the Marina and museum distrct.

MEAL TIMES WERE A LITTE CHAOTIC BUT THE STAFF WERE ALWAYS POLITE AND TRIED THEIR BEST

All the staff we came across were very attentive and friendly, they couldn't do enough, on the Saturday evening the hotel was very busy with two weddings but the staff were still very attentive and courteous even though they were rushed off their feet. We hope to visit again in the very near future.

Although the room was fairly basic but adequate we were pleasantly suprised by the quality of the meals on offer. The staff were very friendly and the service was good. The hotel is in a quite good location to access the centre of Hull for shopping and museums if you are fit enough to be able to walk reasonable distances on the flat.

All inclusive deal was excellent value for money. The hotel is in an excellent location, right in the centre of Hull and is a great base from which to explore. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would not hesitate to recommend.

Everything about the hotel was excellent. Overall, value for money was unbelievable.

The shower was a little awkward to use. The room itself was very comfortable. They seemed to be short staffed at times in the restaurant, but all the staff were very helpful and friendly. The location of the hotel was excellent.

Hotel food was excellent and we were upgraded twice with our room ...the hotel staff were abit rushed off their feet especially at breakfast which was abit chaotic with juice not replenished quickly or bowls for cereal.The bar is in the large foyer and very open. Didn't have any long queues for service. The hotel is in a superb position, very near the town, so handy for shopping and museums etc. So on the whole, a lovely value for money break. We would definately return again.

The quality of service we received at the hotel was very good the staff were very polite and friendly and made you feel welcome. The break offered fantastic value for money as we were on an all inclusive break. The food was very good altough on the second evening of our break my partners main meal was cold. How ever my partner informed the waitress of this and with out hesitaion she took his plate away and soon returned with a compleetley fresh plate of hot food. The manager also came over and personaly appologised. The room we stayed in was a little on the small side but was clean and comfortable. We would definately saty at this hotel again and I would recomend it to my family and friends alike. We had a most enjoyable stay, Good food and Good service from all the staff especially the Bar and resturant staff.

Food excellent. Service very good, staff friendly Room was adequate, but there were several small defects which needed attention. These were mentioned upon leaving and reception staff said they would pass on and have repaired.

The £79 all-inclusive deal is hard to beat. The hotel is well located and there's lots to see and do in Hull. The only thing that went wrong is that we were only left one set of towels after the room was cleaned! How odd! But it was soon rectified.

My husband an I have just returned from a midweek break at The Royal Hotel in Hull and we would not hesitate to recomend a stay here to any one . The food and accomodation were both excellent value for money. The staff were really friendly and went out of there way to help in any way they could. In particular a gentelman by the name of John who we was called to our room just after our arrival to repair a trouser press, when this couldn't be mended he arranged for an iron and ironing board for the room and each time we saw him during our stay we had a laugh and a joke with him. On the morning of our departure we had a problem with the window washers on our car and after trying in vain to get it sorted at a garage John once again proved invaluble , he rang a friend who was with us in no time and had us on our way within 15mins . The only comment I would make would be with regard to the restaurant service whch was extremely slow especially with regard to the evening meals.

The all inclusive break at the Mercure Royal Hotel was outstanding value for money and Hull itself was a really pleasant surprise with lots of beautiful architecture and free museums. The hotel staff were friendly and efficient and we were upgraded on arrival and given our room straight away. The back door of the hotel leads onto the railway station concourse and this adds considerably to the charm of the hotel. There is a lot to see and do in Hull and we would most certainly return should this offer be repeated.

The Mercure Royal Hotel in Hull wa s very good but the best thing about it was the Staff. They were really excellent from the time we arrived to the time we left. Nothing was too much trouble,in fact nothing was ANY trouble. They were so friendly and cheerful we did'nt want to leave.We would recomend this hotel to anyone and will certainly return to this hotel and it's wonderful staff in the future.

Very erratic & disorganized restaurant service.

Not a great deal to do in Hull but we made good use of the All inclusive bar from 7 -11pm.

Rating would have been excellent if the service in the restaurant had been better organised. There was a lack of supervision meaning it was necessary to keep asking for things although the staff were extremely friendly and helpful.

The hotel was well sitauted for the town. The staff were friendly and helpful. The atmpsphere and ambience in the hotel were good.

The room we had was on the small side, but clean and adequately furnished. Great staff at the hotel who were friendly, helpful, and efficient. The only reason we would not go back to this hotel is that we have seen all we want in the area, definately recommend it to family and friends.

Lovley location with a beautiful reception lounge area. The lunchtime soup and sandwich are not really worth going back for if you have gone out of the area for the day. That is the only critisism. Nice hotel and rooms to go back to after a day or night out. Hull is a nice town much better than we thought, with all the usual shops and a couple of nice shopping malls. some of the pubs nearer to the hotel were a bit shabby but further into town and near to the Marina there are some much better pubs and cafe bars. The Museum Quarter is a hidden gem and all for free. Well worh a visit and its in same area as the lovely Marina . Would definitly go back .

The room was small, but perfectly adequate considering the package price. The overall standard of the hotel was good. The food was good and the all inclusive drinks made the stay very good value. The location of the hotel in the city centre made the break enjoyable for us as we wanted to walk rather than use the car. The hotel staff were pleasant and friendly.

The hotel was excellant, lovely clean room, friendly staff, good food, good location. The hotel is right in the centre of Hull next to the railway station, and I thought this is going to be noisy at night, but I was plesantly surpised, there was no noise at all. Would deffinatly stay again.

Hotel was centrally located. We left our car when we arrived and there it stayed until we left. Plenty of parking space. Polite and friendly staff especially in the restaurant. Food served was of an excellent standard. I felt that the room and furnishings were a little tired. We arrived just after mid day and were not offered an upgrade. The large bed was squashed into a small space with room for only one bedside table and around a foot of clearance on one side of the bed from the wall. The radiator on the other side of the bed was boiling hot on the first night and we were unable to turn it down. After speaking to reception we were later informed that this was rectified. Well, we now had a control to turn the heat down which was set to 1 but still the radiator was roasting. The smallest of wardrobes and only three narrow drawers to put our belongings. I have stated that I would not stay at this hotel again but if the room was better then I probably would. Excellent value for money. I will be honest to our friends but suggest they try the hotel for themselves. Maybe their room would be better. Hull is actually quite an interesting place.

Absolutely fantastic hotel. This is my most favourite of all those I have visited so far. Staff are fantastic,food is amazing. Hotel has had a fabulous refurb. The whole experience was just top class. I would go here every weekend if it was possible. ;=)

A very enjoyable stay - a couple of little things to consider. We only ever had one hand towel with 2 bath towels in the en suite, a minor thing but 2 would have been in keeping with other hotels. Restaurant service was excellent and food very good. Bread rolls offered with the meal would have been appreciated - again in keeping with other hotels. The all inclusive drinks option was very good except for the fact that wine was given in 125ml glasses which was very small so we felt we were mithering staff to keep filling them whereas 175ml or even 250ml would have saved staff time and washing up !! Overall we were pleased with our stay, the hotel was in the heart of the city and an easy walk to shops/museums etc.. Thank you

the royal hotel in hull is really nice the staff and management can,t do enough for you. the food was excellent and the hotel is warm and inviting it is central so easy to do shopping and the railway station is right next door, would stop here again it was lovely.

A delightful period hotel where the staff young and older, were friendly, accommodating and nothing was too much trouble. My wife and I were very comfortable in our room and the food was very good. In particular, the evening dinner was superb and compliments went to the chef! Over the last 10 months, we have experienced many hotels, but this one - a three star - set a new bench mark particularly on the food. Will go again.

The hotel was fantastic, I think that it must have had a very recent refurb as everything looked brand new. The staff were very friendly and professional, we had an early check in and a late check out, we also got a free room upgrade. The food served in the restaurant was to a very high standard and the staff were first class. It was our first time staying at a Mercure Hotel, it defiantly won't be the last.

We have nothing but praise for all the staff at the Mecure Royal Hull.They were very friendly and helpfull. we did not encounter anything negative at all from them. The offer we had was the all inclusive, which was quite unbelievable and was real value for money, we were even given a free room upgrade. We certainly would Stay again and recommend it to anyone

everything was great except service at breakfast this morning, they gave us a cup of tea each and not a tea pot put on the table, we thought that was a bit odd, and they never came around to refill the cup either, but overall the break was great , excelent value and a very nice hotel

The service and help we received from all the staff at this magnificent hotel was really exceptional. A special thankyou to Betty for the upgrade we got, and a big thankyou to the two ladies who work behind the bar for being so helpful and friendly as well. We will certainly be staying at this at this hotel again for all the above reasons.

We stayed for a two night break on the Sunday and Monday nights. The break was let down by the hotel as it does not have a chef on sundays and there was no light lunch avalible only the soup which was heated up in the Microwave,(we had phoned a few days before to say we would require the lunch which was part of the offer and were not told there would be only soup) the evening meal choice was limited as no chief we had the pattie and this was so cold as it had only just come out of the fridge. The evening meal on the monday wes totaly different and of a good standard with a better choice,we had our second lunch on the tuesday and a good choice and a very nice meal.

Everything about this hotel was great the staff were very helpful - the room was great it was well worth the £78 for a double room with two nights bed & breakfast.

I booked this All/Inc break for myself, husband and 4 friends. We had a fantastic time and exceptional value for money. We found the hotel very comfortable, spotlessly clean and every need was catered for. We all found the staff very friendly and helpful. The meals were excellent and choice was good. We would definitely return to this hotel.

Room overlooked station platform, so we heard all announcements. Plumbing was quite noisy.

We have had an amazing time at the Mercure Royal Hotel, Hull. The food was excelent and the service also. We were on the all incluseive package which was great value for money. we would love to do the holiday again, Hull was an excellent place for a short break with lots to see and do.

The all inclusive package was good value for money, the only thing we were not happy with was our room, which could have been more spacious.
