London - Charing Cross (A Guoman Hotel, formerly Thistle) Special Offers
4 Star Rated
The Strand, London, WC2N5HX, UK
Since 1865, the Charing Cross Hotel has stood as a monument to the power and confidence of the Victorian era. And in 2007, it set new standards for world class hotels in the 21st century, as part of the Guoman collection.
The transformation has required many changes some large, some subtle, so you may not notice them at first. However, the hotel's innate elegance and refinement has always been preserved. In an age when everything seems transient, and everyone's always in a rush, the timeless gentility of Charing Cross gives it a unique atmosphere and outlook.
The hotel is a grade II listed building dating back more than 140 years, but the 239 bedrooms consisting of junior suites, executive and deluxe rooms are all modern and well furnished. They are all en-suite and equipped with a flat screen TV, telephone, hairdryer, tea & coffee making facilities and BT Openzone internet access.
For a real tasty treat, visit The Terrace on the Strand, a delightful restaurant offering delicious lunches, afternoon tea and dinner. If you fancy something less formal, the Victorian lounge with its relaxed atmosphere serves light bites and drinks throughout the day.
The Strand bar is also open throughout the day and is perfect for a relaxing drink either before or after dinner.

At the traffic lights, you’ll see Charing Cross station ahead and to the right of you. Drive into the station access road in order to check in and drop your luggage at the hotel, which is directly above the station. Car parking is available in the Spring Gardens car park (across Whitehall) at an additional charge. To programme your sat-nav, use the postcode WC2N 5HX.

By Rail
Mainline rail: Charing Cross station is literally underneath the hotel.
London Underground: Charing Cross Tube station is next door to the hotel; Embankment Tube station is 100m away.
By Air
If you’re flying into London City Airport, take the Docklands Light Railway (DLR) to Tower Gateway, then the Circle or District line (westbound) to Embankment.
From London Heathrow, we recommend the Heathrow Express: this runs direct from the airport to London Paddington in just 15 minutes (20 from Terminal 5) and there’s a train every quarter of an hour. The Gatwick Express runs a similar service into London Victoria. From either terminus, you can take the Underground (District and Circle lines) to Embankment station, 100m from the Charing Cross hotel.
